Games every other Monday starting 6/19 from 7PM-10PM.
Arrive as early as 6PM.
I plan to start at as close to 7PM sharp as possible so if you have any business to take care of with me before game please arrive early.
Game will be at Stephanie's place. Message me or her on facebook if you need that address, I don't want to post it on a public site.
Starting with the sandbox adventure "Lost Mines of Phandelver" from the 5E starter set, should bring us to ~4th level. (This adventure is set in the Forgotten Realms as written. I will be changing some details and some names. If I miss any, assume they have no relation to the proper nouns you might be familiar with)
After that I want to aim for something slightly more sandboxy with wilderness adventure and dungeons.
Running as old school as I can: we will be tracking things like encumbrance, weight, and torches. I will use as many random tables as I can. Random encounters and travel time will exist. No fudging of dice rolls to prevent character death. Some monsters may be too strong for you. I will also use Gygaxisms like "milieu" if I can remember it.
Avoiding fights where possible is encouraged. You don't go into a dungeon to fight goblins, you do it to get treasure. Fighting is just a frequent necessity.
Counter to all of that, I also plan on allowing a strong amount of player authorship in the setting where it doesn't directly impact dice rolls. Feel free to make up a nation your character came from. Describe the history and mannerisms of your particular clan. Name a god and then worship them! Obviously, try to be relatively serious with this. You can worship a god who does funny things but I will veto a god named "Butts". Hopefully I can set the wiki editable by players so you can fill this stuff in as we go, otherwise I can update it through email.
See Appendix N (http://www.digital-eel.com/blog/ADnD_reading_list.htm) for inspiration. I haven't read all of these books and probably won't get around to it, but you better believe I'm going to be using Moorcock for inspiration approximately as often as fantasy roleplaying games steal from Tolkein.
Information on the Campaign Setting can be found on the wiki as I type it out. My wiki skills are passingly adequate so expect nothing and you won't be disappointed.
